Title:
Abolition of the Formal Institution of Marriage
Preamble:
WHEREAS the government at any level should not concern itself with the relationships of consenting adults,
WHEREAS relationships between consenting adults should not be recognized nor receive benefits from the government,
and WHEREAS, more tax revenue and a decrease in legal costs will allow for allocating more funding to more serious and respectable concerns such as the raising of children.
Therefore:
Section 1: The government at every level will no longer issue out nor recognize marriage licenses of any kind.
Section 2: Marriage or joint filers for taxes will be abolished, removing the tax deduction for married couples.
Section 3: Marriage will not be outlawed, meaning that private organizations, such as Churches, can still hand out marriages, but they will not be recognized by the government.
Section 4: Since marriage is not recognized by the government, no private institution can be sued for how it deals with marriages, as long as they do not violate any other laws.
Section 5: Regarding property ownership, an agreement similar to a prenuptial agreement, has to be made to clarify to the government who owns what property.
Section 6: Having Children will still be a tax deduction and since there are no more joint filers, each single filer can deduct their taxes if they have children that they are taking care of. This way benefits only go to those who have children instead of those who are simply in a relationship.
